Week 37: OFFL Cup Semi-Finals, Results

All About The Cup

It's all about the OFFL Cup this week but before we get on to that, let us give Mr Tierney's tiny trumpet a toot for gaining a second Manager of the Week certificate.  His Wymondham Working Men's Club fetched him 32 points.

Impressive.  But was it enough to get him through to the next round of the OFFoh yeah he went out ages ago.

Also of note, up into Fourth is Sarah Bingham whose enormous 28 points saw her leapfrog the Diamonds.  But was it enough to get her through to the next round of the OFFoh yeah she went out ages ago.

Real Mcdrid go through on Points per Pound difference, 0.41 v 0.40

In spite of the sweeping changes designed to conquer her opponent, Minty Colquhoun fell 8 points shy of her impressive superior, Gavin Ward, whose own transfers - designed to do the same - lost him a point this week.

Still, the real drama occurred in the other Semi-Final with Real Mcdrid and Neil's Diamonds battling out an exciting score draw.  The end result fell to a PpP shoutout which was won by Craig McHugh's Real men 0.407 to 0.400.  Foof.

Week 36: OFFL Semi-Finals

Gavin Ward and Minty Colquhoun:
biting back at a lacklustre season

Manager of the Week this week is Chris Walsh, his Lashings of Cheese, who were cruelly knocked out of the OFFL Cup in an earlier round, scored a high and mighty 28 points.  In spite of the much cherished MotW certificate to balm his wounds it is, ultimately, another trophy-less season for this member of the highly competitive Real-Sense stable.

Meanwhile, biting back at a lacklustre season so far... both Gavin Ward and Minty Colquhoun [Olympilimps FC and Minted, respectively] are rattling their sabres at each other by making team changes ahead of their forthcoming OFFL Cup Semi-Final clash. Intriguingly, however, the other Semi-Finalists, both OFFL Cup winners from the past two years: Craig [2011 Winners] and Neil [2012 Winners], have demonstrated a toothless approach to their own fixture.  Not exactly baring their teeth at each other.


And has the weekend's jaw-dropping [and quickly jaw-closing-again-on-soft-flesh] controversy involving a certain uncontrollably violent Uruguayan set off an avalanche of team kick-outs?  Well, not really.  Two, so far.

The top three positions compress once more, with scores differing over a very tiny ten point range.

Manager of the Week this week is the Lovely Sarah-Jane John, the doting Mrs Russ Bielby.  Her Johnny's Heroes scored 12 points this week.  She'll be popping her certificate on the mantel piece right next to the one her husband won last week. Meanwhile, it's time to prepare for the Semi-Finals of the OFFL Cup.  The prize, this year, is the 2013 Match of the Day annual. This will be sent to the winner's home. They will not have a choice.  And neither will there be a return address.

Steve Tierney's Wymondham Working Men's Whatnot have moved up a place into sixth as they desperately seek to secure a super sought-after top four finish.

His certificate-winning weekly harvest of 19 points leaves his Pyeators with 11 points to go to catch up with current Champions and leaders Inter Milandrover, with Malcolm's FC Maalcoma not out of the running yet.  Even Neil's Diamonds are having a punt.
