OFFL Cup

Third Round, results

Week 31

 Olympilimps FC    9  v  0  Johnny's Heroes
     Gavin Ward             Sarah-Jane John

         Minted   12  v 11  Multiple Scorgasms
Minty Colquhoun             Sarah Bingham

 Neil's Diamonds   6  v  5  Lashings of Cheese
  Neil McConaghy            Chris Walsh

     Real Mcdrid  10  v  8  FC Maalcoma
    Craig McHugh            Malcolm Pratt

This round has produced the closest fought fixtures of any round of any season so far. Apart from Olympilimps' mauling of Johnny's Heroes - none of THEM received a hero's welcome we can confirm. None of them none of them n-n-n-n-none of them n-n-n-n- etc etc.

Pitched against any other opponent and her Scorgasms would have erupted through to the next round but Bingham was beaten by the better bint: Mint.  And with her Minted's weekly score of 12 pts, Ms Colquhoun also wins the Manager of the Week certificate to boot.  Congratulations Ma'am.

Meanwhile, poor Chris Walsh.  A season in tatters.  On a mission to win the cup and Neil's Diamonds carat-ee chop him off in his prime.  Gone too are one time League favourites FC Maalcoma, and good Mcdriddance.  Defeated by two points by the former Cup winners Real Mcdrid, of course.  S'what was being referred to by the 'Mcdriddance' thing.  Made that up.  Just for you.  You lucky people.

SO!

We have the semi-final teams all decided.  Congratulations to: Gavin Ward, Minty Colquhoun, Neil McConaghy and Craig McHugh.  One of you will receive this year's OFFL prize... the Match of the Day 2013 Annual.

And you WILL receive it.  Trust me.

Week 30: OFFL Cup 3rd Round Preparation

Oh, Mr Bielby. Everyone's staring.

The Third Round of the OFFL Cup is now set and In Play.  Several managers saw the wisdom in making changes to their team line-ups in order to optimise their chances of winning this year's incredible prize.  Of those managers, only four applied that wisdom in the form of action and actually making some actual transfers, actually.

The incredible prize that everyone's pursuing is the Match of the Day 2013 annual.  Not 1974.  Not 1982.  2013.  Current, aye.  New and dat too innit tho.

Meanwhile, Mr King's Moobs bounce out of the top ten and Mr Clayton's Pyeators have caught up with the spluttering FC Maalcoma. The Manager of the Week certificate goes to Chris Walsh who has been busy preparing his Lashings of Cheese for this coming week's OFFL Cup fixture against Neil's Diamonds.  The Cheese notched up 11 points.  Repeat this certificate-grabbing achievement next week and they'll be through to the next round of the cup for sure.

Oh Mr Bielby.  Everyone's staring.

Week 29: Last call for OFFL Cup transfers!

Eye on the prize

It was only a matter of time, wasn't it? FC Maalcoma finally knocked off the top by Bale-buying Inter Milandrover with Pyeators in hot pursuit.  Can Smasher's Inter Milandrover be the only team ever to successfully defend their title?  Let's hope not.  After nearly 20 years of OFFL the last thing we need is for people to start losing interest.

Having said that, there are feasibly five teams still in the race. With a few tweaks from any of those teams the race is still 'anybody's'.  Wide open. Five wide.

Talking of tweaks... does anyone in the Cup competition want to submit any last minute transfers?  Monday 1730 is your deadline. The Double has only ever been done once, by Steve Tierney's Tierney's Twonks back in 2004. Speculatively, three teams are still in the running for this highly elusive honour. One of whom jointly won the Manager of the Week certificate this week.  Yes, Sarah Bingham along with Gavin Ward both steered their respective teams to a large haul of 34 points. Their Multiple Scorgasms and Olympilimps rest in places fifth and sixth respectively.

A nice little bit of preparation for their upcoming OFFL Cup fixtures...
